Saturday at Texas Childrens

This morning we started Aiden back on half strength formula and he has managed to keep it all down, although he still has his diarrhea. I have requested that a pediatric doctor come by to examine him, but they have to get permission from the surgeon. They are about to have one angry momma unleash on them. With 4 days of throwing up and diarrhea, they have yet to do any blood work or check him out to see what is going on. They are just assuming it is a bug. Since he came to the hospital under the diagnosis of an abscess, that seems to be their only concern. So frustrating! Around 2 this afternoon the nurse came in to see why Aiden was so fussy and realized that his arm was extremely puffy and swollen from the IV. She said it was caused from the IV leaving the vein. The IV was removed and now he is being watched for a few hours to see if it needs to be put back in another location. I am praying that my baby gets better soon so we can leave this place.

We did get the cultures back from Aiden's surgery and he did not have staph. It came back positive as 'graham negative rod'. This was described to us as an infection in the anal column. Don't ask us what this mean, because we don't know. :)

Most Gram Neg rods are found in gut hence coming out in stools.
