Many Milestones

Hurricane Ike brought a lot of destruction to the Houston area but during this time of unexpected events and challenges, Emily has grown by leaps and bounds! Over the period of about a week, she learned to wave hello, started making kissing noises, began pulling herself up on furniture, and started clapping when she hears "yay, Emily!" or when she is having a good time playing. We even had to lower Emmy's crib, since we came into her room one morning and found her like this...

Below is a video Daddy took of Emily clapping her hands...

Happy Birthday, Aunt Cheryl!

While we were in Dallas during Hurricane Ike, Aunt Cheryl had a birthday! Emily was finally able to see her Great Mimi and Aunt Cheryl again and meet her cousin Drew and Uncle Mike for the first time. We had a great time celebrating her birthday over pizza while catching up with everyone.

Emily loved playing with the beautiful flowers in Aunt Cheryl's yard.

My First Trip to the Park

Earlier this week, Jon and I took Emily to the neighborhood park for the first time. There was not much she could do, but we had fun being outside and showing her the slide. I wish there had been a swing, but we will find that for our next trip!

Baby has good taste!

Emily has shown at a very early age, that she has good taste in jewelry. Every time she sees people wearing necklaces or watches, she has to inspect them. One of her favorite pieces is CC's David Yurman necklace. Last Saturday Emily was very tired and avoiding her nap since she was out and about helping Abigail take her first pictures. CC gave Emmy her Yurman necklace to play with and within minutes, Emily was sleeping soundly, tightly grasping her treasure.

My first hurricane

Hi everyone! It is me, Emily! I have been busy today writing this update from our hotel room on my wireless laptop. As most of you already know, my mommy and daddy packed up our car yesterday with all of my favorite toys and my 2 puppies (Toby and Lilly) and brought us all to Dallas. The car ride was sooooooo long but my mommy said at least we beat the traffic. I don't know much about traffic, but I do know that 5 hours in my car seat (with one break to change my diaper and feed me) was way too long and I let them know it every chance I got! Now we are all staying in a hotel where daddy is working to make sure his company is OK when Houston looses power due to Hurricane Ike. I have a small area on the floor that I use to play with my toys and sometimes mommy and I take a walk around the hotel when I need a change of scenery. Earlier today, I even let my puppies ride with me in my stroller because they were tired of walking. My daddy told me that I am the nicest big sister! Here are some pictures of my busy day hanging out in the hotel.

For all of my friends and family who stayed in Houston, please know that I love you very much and will be praying of you as Ike heads your way. Please stay safe and let me know you are OK when things calm down. Bye for now! I love you all and am thinking about you!

Love,

Emily Renee

Milestone Moment

This afternoon when Emily woke up from her nap, I walked into her room to find a big surprise! My little girl was sitting up in her crib with a huge smile on her face! She was so proud of her accomplishment and while I was excited with her, I had a pang of sadness that she is growing up so fast!!!

The Busy Life of Emily

Labor Day

Today we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Lloyd's house for Labor Day lunch. Emily had fun playing with her cousins and showing off her new 'head tilt' which she now likes to do anytime the camera is out. :)

The Sound of Music

For all of you musical lovers out there, you will be happy to know that Emily watched The Sound of Music for the first time this weekend. She LOVED it! Of course she didn't sit through the entire thing, but did watch a good 30 mintues of it. Here are some pictures of Emily watching her first musical and playing with Daddy.
