Hello, Toes!

Emily loves her little piggies! She hates for them to be in socks or shoes because she can't play with them or eat them. I thought these pictures were not only precious, but priceless. As one of my dearest friends once told Emily, "This is only cute for so long!" How sad, yet true. :)

Happy Birthday, Kaila!

Tonight we went to a swim party at the YMCA in honor of Kaila's 6th birthday. Emily loved the water and felt a lot more comfortable this time. She was splashing, letting me twirl her around, and even trying to kick a little. Here are some pictures of Emily, Hailey and Kaila from the party.

Hanging out with Hailey

Emily and Hailey had fun hanging out today. They went to a party where they had their little feet painted and will have them turned into a picture. Emily's will be turned into a fairy! After the party we played at Hailey's house for a while. The cousins had a great time. Hailey enjoyed trying to take Emily's bow off her head. Uncle Chris thought he trained her well while I thought she just had 'bow envy'.

A New Trick

This week I have really been working with Emmy on sitting up. Although her record is only about 45 seconds right now, she has come a long way! Here are some pictures of our big girl showing off her new trick!
Even though Emily is finally starting to sit up, what she really loves to do is stand! It is funny how she seems to have better balance when it comes to standing. After a hard workout this morning in sitting up, we rewarded her by letting her stand. :) Way to go, Emily!

*** One additional note...Although Aunt Jennifer bought this outfit for Emily, we would like to dedicate these pictures to Uncle Chris who LOVES it when Emily wears bows. Look Uncle Chris, 3 bows just for you! ***

A new use of the floor mat

Emily's favorite activity has always been playing on her Baby Einstein floor mat. Now that she is getting a little stronger and a little more adventurous, she is finding new things to do with it...like knocking it over and using to for peek-a-boo.

Our little.....thumb sucker????

Emily started sucking her right thumb on Friday. Mommy keeps trying to distract her with the pacifier but it only seems to work some of the time.

6 Month Check Up

Yesterday Emily went to the doctor for her 6 month check up and shots. The nurse we saw said Emily is right on track developmentally, so that was reassuring. My little angel weighed in at 15 lbs. 11 oz. (50th percentile) and was 26.25" long (also the 50th percentile). Her head circumference, on the other hand, was in the 75th percentile and I told the nurse it was because she knows she is so cute. :) When it came time for the shots, poor little Emmy was not a happy camper. She broke my heart with her crying and I could not cuddle her fast enough! She slept for the rest of the afternoon and did not seem to have any problems. However, this morning Emily woke up running fever. I was suppose to take her to get her 6 month portraits this morning but rescheduled since she was not feeling well. The fever has persisted all day and can only be kept down with Tylenol. Emmy slept just about all day, waking only for bottles and more Tylenol. I hope she feels better tomorrow...

Happy Half Birthday, Emmy!

Emily turned 6 months old today!!! Our little girl is growing so quickly! She is rolling everywhere and loves to stand. So far, Emily shows little interest in learning how to sit by herself, but would stand up all day if we let her. When I was trying to take pictures today, she kept arching her back in an effort to make herself stand up. It is so fun to see her little personality coming out. Tonight CC and Aunt Kelli invited us over for dinner. When we got there, we were so surprised to see that they had decorated the house in honor of Emily's half birthday! Emily's favorite cartoon is Mickey Mouse Club House so there was a Minnie Mouse balloon, mouse ears and Mickey party horns. Thank you, CC and Aunt Kelli for making today so special for Emmy. We had a lot of fun!

Emily waving her American flag

Happy 4th of July!

Emily really enjoyed her first 4th of July. We kept her busy today running errands and then taking her to a block party at Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Tim's house - she was such a trooper! She took a catnap around dinner time and woke up just in time for the fireworks. I was not sure how she would react to them, but she LOVED it! She did not cry at all as she stared at the colorful night sky. When a really loud one would go off, Emmy would jump a little and then gaze at the explosion in such amazement. Here are some pictures from today's adventures. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!
