What's going on with the Widdle Woyds?

This morning when we went to get Emily up from her nap, she had a HUGE surprise for us! She was showing us just how close she is to learning how to get out of her crib all by herself! (The crib is already lowered to the lowest setting, too!) She had one leg over the side and the other leg up behind her. That girl has some strong arm muscles because she was supporting her entire body weight!!!! Unfortunately I was not able to get a picture of this...but I will be sure to bring my camera with me next time to see if I can capture it! After morning nap time we headed out to the Woodlands mall for some family time at the Children's Museum. Here, Emmy was climbing up and over everything! She even got on top of a table! We are in for some trouble!
Aiden has been working on his head control. He loves tummy time because this is when he gets his best naps. The stubborn boy can lift his head for several seconds, but is not trying to use his arms yet. He loves to snuggle and be held by anyone who will pay attention to him. Aiden has also started laughing! It is so cute! One sure fire way to get him to laugh is to kiss his neck and chin. He has also decided that he hates car rides! Lately, Aiden will voice his opinion on car trips until he tires himself out! It is so sad to hear him protest, knowing there is nothing you can do to make it better.

Aiden will turn 4 months old this week so we will be making a trip up to the doctor's office for shots and a check up. I am excited to see how much my little man weighs now. (The boy LOVES to eat!) Life is getting busy, but it is so much fun to watch these two precious gifts grow and change. Each day is an adventure and I am enjoying every minute of it!

Gymboree Classes

The last few weeks I have been looking for some kind of program to enroll Emily in so she could play with other kids her age. Several friends recommended the Gymboree classes so this morning we braved the rain and went to a trial class to see how well she enjoyed it. She loved running around exploring the tunnels, slides, balance beams and obstacle courses! The only part Emily was a little apprehensive about was the parachute activities and songs at the end. Some of the other parents told us their child took a few weeks to get use to that part, too. At the end of the class we decided to go ahead and sign her up! I am excited that we have something planned on a weekly basis now that we can look forward to. My hope is that she will not only build muscle and coordination, but also build friendships.

Marvelous Monday

The weather outside is absolutely beautiful today so I decided to take Emily outside to play! Trying to entertain her with something new, I filled a big bowl full of water and found 2 plastic spoons from the kitchen to let her splash around with. Talk about a great time! Emily was giggling, splashing, and yelling as if to tell the entire neighborhood that she was having the best day ever! It was SO cute! When the bowl was drained of all the water, Emily decided to "ride" her bike (which really means push it around or have Mommy push her on it) and then take a stroll in the wagon. You may be wondering where Mr. Aiden was during all of this fun. Well, he was outside relaxing in his Lazy Boy making his own fun by blowing bubbles. He really enjoyed the breeze blowing his hair around and would occasionally break out in huge grins. After playing outside for about an hour, Emily came in and went straight down for a nap! We all had a blast!!!!!

Happy Easter!

We had the best Easter ever today! The day started out very stormy, but Emily, Aiden and Abigail didn't even notice because the Easter Bunny had come with baskets full of goodies! After a jam packed morning filled with baskets, donuts, bath time and naps, we headed over to Memaw's house for lunch and an egg hunt. CC surprised the grandkids with a ball pit and the kids LOVED it! Emily decided that instead of hunting eggs for her basket, she needed to hunt eggs to put in the ball pit. I think she thought they were 'balls' that had escaped! :) Papaw made a great lunch for a house full of guests. After lunch, the rain had stopped and it turned into a beautiful day! We spent the rest of our Easter outside enjoying the good weather and sunshine...and ball pit! We hope you had a wonderful Easter, too!

On the hunt for chocolate!

Today, our friends, the Bonin's, invited us to an Easter egg hunt at their church. Figuring this would be a great opportunity for Emmy to practice for the big day, we jumped at the chance! The church had the field divided by age groups so that all the kids had a equal chance at filling their baskets full of eggs. When the hunt began, Emily picked up her first egg and discovered it had a piece of chocolate inside that was wrapped in gold foil and resembled a golden coin. Well, that sent our little princess on the hunt for CHOCOLATE COINS...not easter eggs! The church had a special silver egg hidden and if you found that one you could turn it in for a big surprise! Well wouldn't you know that Emily found it! However, when she inspected it and discovered no chocolate inside, it was promptly ditched! After a few minutes, Emmy had one golden chocolate coin for each hand and she was done! She was not greedy at all! I think she walked away with six eggs! :) Her friend, Jacey, was kind enough to share some of her loot with Emily though. Isn't that sweet!?! We had a great time hunting eggs (I mean, chocolate coins) and can't wait for tomorrow! The Easter Bunny is sure to bring lots of goodies for Emmy and Aiden! Stay tuned....
