Yesterday Aiden turned 4 months old so we loaded up the car bright and early and headed to his check up with the doctor. First things first...here are his stats: He now weighs 13 lbs. 13 oz. (25-50%), is 25.5 inches long (75%) and his head circumference is 16.25 inches (25%). I was prepared for Aiden to receive 5 immunizations but I was not prepared for what the doctor had to say. The doctor said he was still concerned about his head - but I did not know this was ever a concern. He said Aiden has an unround head and it is getting extremely flat on the left side. We were told that x-rays of Aiden's neck were needed to make sure that his spinal structure was ok. Dr. Nix said the left side of his neck is very stiff and this is why the little man is having trouble holding up his head, supporting his body weight, sitting, and why his head flops to one side. I was reassured that this would not cause any mental delays, but is simply cosmetic. In his words, "If gone untreated, he will look like the crooked old man." So where do we go from here? Well, I will take him for his x-rays this morning and once those are in, we will start intense physical therapy. I am not sure yet how often or how long this will be needed. If this intervention does not work, we will have to get Aiden a helmet. We are so thankful that this is nothing life threatening, but we are a little concerned for him none the less. Please keep our little man in your thoughts and prayers and we will continue to keep you posted as to what is going on with him.
Now, on to the rest of Aiden's day. The doctor said he is now big enough to start fruits and veggies! I decided to start him on applesauce since that is Emily's favorite and I wanted to give him a special treat after his rough morning. He was not all that impressed with this experience! I expected him to make this huge mess like Emmy did, but nope! He delicately licked the spoon and then would shove his hands in his mouth because he thought they were a better option! So I did what any mommy would do and made some of the food get on his chin to satisfy my picture moment. :) I know, I am special! Anyway, you may be wondering what Emily thought of this experience. Well let me tell you! She kept trying to get a lick from the jar while I am not looking! Then the little princess took off with the lid to the jar and made sure not to leave any trace of baby food behind! Here are some pictures of Aiden's first experience with solid food...and of course, Emily trying to get her fill!

What is the helmet for? So the side of his head being flat isn't going to have any development delays?
Just a curious and concerned auntie and uncle.
Glad to see Emily enjoyed Aiden's feeding experience even if he didn't, hehe.
