Tonight around 8 we FINALLY saw a pediatrician. (This only took an entire day of complaining to the nursing staff to get accomplished.) The doctor came in and took several pages of notes on the symptoms Aiden has shown over the last several days, his medical history, and family history. He examined Aiden and said he is not dehydrated yet (he has been off IV fluids since noon) and that he will recommend to the surgeons (who makes all of the decisions about his care since he was admitted through their department) that Aiden have a blood test and stool culture done. We are expecting these to be done some time tonight and have the results in the morning. If all looks good, then we can begin looking at discharge possibilities. Our little man is still only taking between 1-2 oz. per feeding and is only wanting to eat every 5 or so hours...so dehydration is still a possibility. A normal feeding is about 5-6 oz every 3 hours. I feel better though after getting some focused attention from someone who seemed to care about what was going on.
On a fun note, Aiden is practicing rolling over in his hospital crib! He has almost flipped completely, but is having trouble getting his shoulder out from under him. This is the first time he has done this so we are excited! He is such a trooper and despite his pain, he is still finding ways to make us smile. Here are some pictures from today for you to enjoy.
