Abigail Mae is here!!!

This morning my mom and I went up to the hospital around 6:45 to check on Kelli's progress and settle in for a long day of waiting. Around 8:30 the doctor came in, broke Kelli's water, and checked her. She was 2 cm. dilated. Kelli seemed to be in a lot of pain and Abi's heart rate kept dipping. The nurse suspected the cord may be wrapped around Abi's neck and had her lay on her right side. This was the only thing that seemed to help keep the heart rate up. By 9:45 Kelli was demanding an epidural and she didn't care who gave it to her...licensed or not! We were told the anesthesiologist was in the next room and would come over as soon as he was done. Around 10:30 the anesthesiologist finally made it over to try and relieve Kelli's growing pain. Much to our surprise, she was already 6 cm and they were guessing that Abi would make her grand entrance around noon. Kelli and Randy were instantly filled with excitement and nerves as nurses began filling the room getting things ready at 11:15. I have always known my little sister to have amazing strength and courage and this definitely came out during her labor and delivery. Abi was born at 11:44 am after a handful of great pushes and a lot of tears of happiness. The cord was wrapped around her neck 2 times and required a little extra oxygen, but both mommy and Abi are doing well. She weighed in at 7 lbs 6 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.

I was blessed to be able to be in the room when Abi was born and all I can say is, WOW! What an awesome honor it was to be among the first to greet my beautiful new niece. I manned the camera after Abi was born and tried to capture every moment for Kelli. Here are some pictures of Abigail Mae. Isn't she adorable?!?
